Soon, Saint Cupcake's sugar spun goodness will be in nearly every quadrant of Portland. Owners Julie and Alex Bond, who also own Serratto restaurant on NW 21st, are opening a third Saint Cupcake store on N. Williams, and have bought Poplandia artisan popcorn shop on NW 23rd, where they'll serve up Saint Cupcake treats alongside two dozen sweet and savory flavors of popcorn.
The third Saint Cupcake store is slated to open in the Mason Williams building in late spring, just two blocks north of the food hub that includes Tasty N Sons, Lincoln, and EaT Oyster Bar. Julie Bond says it will be similar to the SW Morrison location downtown, with a large selection of cupcakes and other treats, plus Melty Goods ice cream. But like the SE Belmont location, it will also have a tight selection of gift items, cards, candles, "and other items to help make the celebration more complete," she says. "It is a neat little space, with high ceilings, a roll-up door, and great outdoor area."
As for Poplandia, the retail shop on the corner of NW 23rd and Johnson (just a block from Salt and Straw) is closed right now, but the company is still producing popcorn for wholesale customers and special orders. The popcorn comes in flavors including Cinnamon Apple Churro, and Bourbon Maple Pecan made with Bulleit Bourbon. The Bonds will reopen the shop in a few weeks and add treats from Saint Cupcake.
