If your jaw is still on the ground from the news the Rialto Poolroom would close after 96 years, you can pick it back up. The Rialto Poolroom and its Jack London Bar will live to see another day, WWeek reports, thanks to two new owners with a solid track record for maintaining rather infamous downtown establishments — which makes them just right for running the good old Rialto.
Frank Faillace, who owns Dante's and Star Theater, and Manish Patel, owner of Bar XV, have purchased Rialto Poolroom. It will not close Christmas Eve, as previously announced.
Faillace and Patel tell WWeek they plan to keep the mixed use venue pretty much the same, with pool, off-track betting, sports on the televisions, and various events and performances. All of the business’s employees have retained their jobs, for now, too. And expect to see some improvements made, most likely at Rialto’s street-level bar, The Corner Bar, which could get a new name.
