Longtime North Portland breakfast haunt Beaterville Cafe is closing after two decades in business. Painted on the front window of the brightly-colored cafe is the following message: "Bye. Bye. Thanks for 20 years." A quick call from Eater to the restaurant confirmed the news, with an employee stating that the last day to load up on the breakfast menu is next Monday, May 26. Word is that owner Bill Lockner, who opened the colorful turquoise cafe in 1993, is ready to retire.
Although the restaurant will be gone in just a few days, the adjoining bar will be open during the month of June due to the fact that a number of bands have already been booked. The bar will continue to offer a limited menu of favorites for those who want their Beaterville fix. Updates as they become available.
