Clyde Common Not So Great For The Not-Communal?

New, 4 comments

Eater operatives ran into a disappointed pal down at downtown restaurant Clyde Common last night. Seems that said pal had walked in on her own, looking for nothing more extravagant than a salad and chef Jason Barwikowski's grilled flatiron steak, and had been (politely) told that they don't seat singles at the communal tables. Which seems, on first and second and third reads, to maybe defeat the entire purpose of Clyde Common's commonality and communalism? Nate Tilden's Ace Hotel place was one of Portland Monthly's Best Restaurants picks this year; so what's up, Clyde? No one-tops? For real? For real for real??
