Northwest Sweets to Make Northwest Sweet(er)

It's time for Plywood, where we look at construction sites so you don't have to. Seen or heard something we've missed? The tipline is always open.

Adding another line of sugar to this dessert-friendly Northwest corridor that includes Marie Callender's-of-Trendy-Third Papa Haydn's to the south, and cutesy-town bakery Two Tarts just up Kearney, will be Northwest Sweets, opening imminently and just around the corner from Haydn's, on 23rd between Johnson and Irving. An early look, snapped just last night by an Eater operative (become one!), gives a few visual cues--old-school candy jars, sleek wooden floors, a relatively sparse window display--as to this handmade/classic favorite candy place's cookie-cutter nostalgia. Race you to the runts.
