Running the gamut of year-end wind-downs and wind-ups (looks like the Eater 38 has a lot of people up in arms, jazzed, and totally un-jazzed, which keep it coming), operatives stumbled across Yelp's year-end round-up. The highlights? A whole lot of really healthy-sounding stuff--the quinoa-mushroom burger from Southeast's The Observatory; Sellwood's Garden State's chickpea sandwich--which for a hot second seems to imply that Yelpers might boast a larger constituency of what's generally considered to be typical Portland: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free until the bacon-loving fried chicken-biscuiting plates like Belmont's Pine State Biscuits' Reggie Deluxe--"a ride to sodium heaven"--slip their way in there. Southeast sandwich joint Bunk, roving taco truck KoiFusion, and North Portland taqueria Tienda Santa Cruz get namechecked, as does pizza at Gladstone Coffee, Wy'east, Apizza Scholls, and Dove Vivi. The true winner, though, is Clinton Scandinavian mainstay Broder--home to what's widely considered one of Portland's best breakfasts--and which serves a trout hash at least one Yelper wants to "make love to." To which Eater can only say go on. Give it a whirl. Please?
