Lightner-ing Up

Matt Lightner, the semi-Keller-ish chef bringing silent-kitchen-created smoked fat-covered molecular gastronomy to the new Castagna, just got recognized by Restaurant Hospitality as one of the 10 to Watch in 2010. As Portland Monthly's Mike Thelin points out, "Lightner is not only the solo Portland chef on the list, he’s the only chef from a non-major US dining market, finding himself among New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas peers," which took the Eater operatives a good half-second of parsing to figure meant, essentially, that Lightner is baller, and doubly so because he's representing the PDX.
