Steve's Cheese Will Be Dying; Long Live Cheese Bar

New, 1 comment

Cheesemonger Steve Jones, the guy behind Beast's cheese plate, Le Pigeon's vertical cheese flights, and northwest Portland's dinner party presents, announced today that he'll be closing up his fairly tiny retail space in the back of the Square Deal Wine Company up on NW Thurman. Dry your tears and hold your Taleggio. Jones will be open until mid-February and, even then, isn't going anywhere farther than Southeast, where he'll be opening up Cheese Bar. Where you can get both cheese, and stuff you get at the bar. Hence: Cheese Bar. For those who've forgotten what you can get at either a cheese store, or a bar, or have never heard of a cheese bar and might not know what to expect, Jones explains:

After four fantastic years in Northwest Portland, Steve's Cheese will be moving to a new location in Southeast Portland and will become Cheese Bar. We will continue to offer the same large selection of retail cheese, charcuterie, and specialty food products that you are familiar with. The expansion will allow us to offer a rotating menu built with artisan and farmstead products, including cheese plates, meat plates, sandwiches, salads, small bites, and daily specials that can be paired with beer and wine (by the glass and for carryout). Look for Cheese Bar to open at 6031 SE Belmont in the beginning of March.
So. (Steve Jones + cheese) - Steve's Cheese + (Bar) = Cheese Bar. Got it? Let's roll this one into Plywood.
