Cathy Whims knows how to party. In celebration of Nostrana's five-year anniversary, the Beard-nominated Whims is transforming her rustic Tuscan spot into party central, with three days of flowing booze, experimental special menus, and visiting guest chefs. During birthday weekend, from October 22 to 24, New York City's legendary chef Cesare Casella (of Salumeria Rosi) will fly into town to collaborate with Cathy on tasting menus that'll feature, among other things, a whole roasted pig from Laughing Stock Farm and Bistecca steak from St. Helens Ranch.
Free cake and bubbly (along with other surprises) are in store for diners throughout the weekend, but for Friday night's invite-only kick-off party — meant for industry insiders and loyal purveyors — Whims is pulling out all the stops, with an open bar, free tastings and DJs. And Eater can get you inside.
From now until next Wednesday, we're giving out three pairs of tickets to the VIP party... as long you're willing to work it. For the first contest, kicking off like omg right this second, we'd like to hear your best two-line ode of undying love to Cathy (keep things short and sweet). Send 'em over to pdx@eater.com, and we'll pick a fave — and announce the next contest prompt — on Friday.
