Willamette Week released its glossed-up Restaurant Guide a few hours early (thanks, guys!), naming (not of a much surprise here) John Gorham's much-buzzed about Tasty N Sons as "Restaurant of the Year" and the Matt Lightner-led Castagna as "Runner-Up."
A quick peek at the guide shows that, on page 16, editor Ben Waterhouse places these two winners within what is a sure-bet-to-debated list of "The Top Ten Restaurants in Portland, in alphabetical order": Beaker & Flask, Castagna, Ken's Artisan Pizza, Paley's Place, Podnah's Pit, Pok Pok, Tabla, Tasty N Sons, Toro Bravo and Yuzu.
"Where The Pros Eat" allows local food professionals, like Ten 01's Bar Manager Aaron Zieske and Alma chocolate-maker Sarah Hart, to share their favorite places to eat in town. Zieske is big on the Big Egg food cart as well as the Alibi for its late night Saturday night free buffet (guess even food pros like a bargain). Hart keeps it close to home and Alma, with nearby Tabla, Navarre, Bamboo Sushi and other nearby 28th Avenue favorites. Thoughts on WW's food guide? Post 'em here.
