Tickle Your Pickle

fermentationfest2010.jpg

Pickle makers and fans (Snooki, we're lookin' at you!) will converge in the Pearl District later tonight for the second-annual Fermentation Fest, a celebration of all things briney that features tastes from professional and amateur picklers alike. In a two-hour whirlwind (from 6pm to 8pm), eaters can sample fermented foods in categories ranging from pickled veggies to bread to "liquid dairy" — and soy-fermented products (like natto) also make an appearance. Last year's festival attracted more than 500 pickle enthusiasts; we suggest getting to the fest — inside Ecotrust's Billy Frank Jr. Conference Center — early. More info at the Picklopolis official site.
