A "pay what you like" outpost of Panera Bread may be coming to Portland: According to reports, the chain is looking to open one of its "Cares cafes" — a "take what you need, leave your fair share" concept in which menu prices are simply suggestions for donations — in an already-existing Panera location in the Hollywood district. At the flagship "Cares" center in St. Louis, Panera reports that 60 to 70 percent of customers pay in full, while 15 percent donate more and 15 percent pay less, or nothing at all. [KATU]
