Downtown's outpost of uber-high-end steakhouse chain El Gaucho has been swanking up the Benson Hotel for a decade now, and to commemorate its 10th year, a "Shooting for the Stars" benefit will encourage gorging and gambling — all in the name of charity. Sunday's party (October 10, from 5pm to 10pm) will feature a buffet dinner (salmon stuffed with Dungeness crab! Prime rib with truffles and duck confit!) and casino gaming (including blackjack and Texas hold ‘em tournaments); the $150 reservation includes buffet, booze, and $50 in gambling funds. All proceeds benefit the Hemophilia Foundation of Oregon and the Hemophilia Treatment Center at OHSU.
(And Sunday seems to be the day for swanky charity affairs — the 10-10-10 Portland Chef Face-off, which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, fetes in the Pearl the same evening.)
