Next Wednesday, sake lovers converge at the Governor's Hotel for Sake Fest PDX, a major celebration featuring tastes of local and international craft sakes. Pairings with Japanese-influenced, rice wine-loving restos including Ping, Zilla Sake House, Kale, Biwa, Kin, Masu, and Yakuza (just to name a few) will be available, but the party also aims to educate eaters and drinkers about less-obvious pairings (including cheese, dessert, and more American-influenced fare from Park Kitchen and Whole Foods). A portion of net proceeds (tickets are $65 at the doors) will benefit the Japan-America Society of Oregon.
