Chefs Pair Food and Beer to Win Monaco Cup Competition

This Sunday, a half-dozen chefs will go head-to-head to determine who can cook up the best food-and-beer pairing during the first-annual Monaco Cup, a trophy named less for the wealthy principality and more for the event site (downtown's beer-friendly Hotel Monaco).

Each chef — Wildwood's Dustin Clark, Red Star Tavern's Tom Dunklin, Gilt Club's Chris Carriker, Cafe Nell's Andrew Garrett, Aquariva's Andy Arndt, and Davis Street Kitchen's new guy Scott Shampine — will work with one local craft brewery (from Hopworks to Heater Allen) to pair a small bite of their choice with a complementary brew. Proceeds from the $20 ticket (the audience gets to vote the winner) benefit the United Way.
