23 Hoyt has hired a new chef, so says its official website. According to the just updated site: "23Hoyt steps up to the plate with (former college softball player) chef Amber Webster." The post continues to break news when it notes that the current California gal — the Montana native spent a couple of her college years in Oregon and most recently worked at the Marine Room in San Diego — is moving north on the recommendation of her former boss: Saucebox's new-ish chef Jason Neroni.
No word on whether or not owner Bruce Carey has any plans to have his new hire overhaul 23Hoyt's gastro-pubish fare, but the site does go on to say that Amber has "a light hand with hearty and satisfying dishes such as pork cassoulet and handmade pasta dishes." Neroni's former sous chef at Blanca in Solana Beach is said to be arriving in Portland sometime late this week.
