Cork Bottle Shop to Shutter Its Northwest Location

Bad news for NW winos: Cork Bottle Shop's westside location on Lovejoy Street will permanently close at the end of the year, pending a TBA relocation. According to owner Darryl Joannides, a difficult relationship with the building's landlord is the reason behind the move, and "while we've been actively pursuing new locations, we haven't yet found the perfect spot for our second store."

And in order to ensure the landlord debacle doesn't happen again, Joannides also announced that Cork has officially purchased the building that houses its Alberta shop, with goals to makes "serious upgrades over the coming year to improve our energy efficiency and storefront appearance" (construction begins in the spring). The last day at the NW shop will be this Friday, December 31: 'Til then, stock up on those favorite bottles for 20% off.
