Portlanders, its time to flip your wig for the retro-fied beauty parlor–themed nightclub known as Beauty Bar . BB served its first scotch and shampoo set in NYC's East Village in 1995. Since then this boite spot for high balls and hot rollers has gone on to set up shop in such hair-raising cities as Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Austin, Las Vegas and Brooklyn. Now it looks it's Portland's, or more specifically, Old Town's turn.

BB's eighth location is scheduled to open at 111 SW Ash Street sometime this month.
According to press materials, this "enclave of bars features items reclaimed from mid-century beauty salons like classic hair dryer chairs and cultivates a nightlife atmosphere appealing to progressive and savvy urban clientele."

It features (get this) Beauty Bar’s "signature" happy hour event—“Martinis & Manicures” (a mere $10 gets you both)—as well as events/after parties for touring bands and artists. Speaking of bands, Portland's Beauty Bar is owned by Paul Hinojos and Jake Steele. Hinojos, Eater culled from the release, is "a Grammy Award–winning rock musician"—and Portland resident since 2006—whose musical history includes playing in bands At the Drive-In, Sparta and The Mars Volta. “In The Mars Volta we spent a lot of time in Austin, Texas," says Hinojos. "Our friend Jason (Reece) from Trail of the Dead is a part owner of Austin’s Beauty Bar so we hung out there all the time."

Music, manicures and mojitos? This is either the best idea EVER or one of the most hair-brained ideas to ever hit P-town.
