A couple of weeks ago, Food Dude tweeted the news that Micah Camden, owner of DOC, Yakuza, and Fats up on 30th and Killingsworth, would be opening up a burger spot somewhere in the Pearl. And then, true to form, Karen Scoopinova Scoopenin Brooks, recently of the Oregonian, got--and wrote--the full story. Word is Camden'll be opening up Little Big Burger, a four-menu-item place that'll offer tiny $3.50 versions of his Yakuza burger (named best burger in Portland by Portland Monthly), fries, soda, and beer, sometime in May or June. Why the jump?
"I'm ready to reach a bigger audience," says Camden. "I've spent the past four years trying to craft my talent in Northeast Portland, where people had to come to find me. In the Pearl, the energy is more lively, more diverse. From the Waterfront to Northeast 23rd, there's so much happening, especially in the spring and summer. We don't draw that kind of foot traffic in this neighborhood."And, now that Brooks is gone, the Oregonian isn't going to, either.
