Despite that the Portland Famers Market had expanded it space as well as the number of vendors, Saturday's opening day was still quite a jam-packed affair. As reported in words and photos by some blogger dude named Byron Beck, Pine Street Biscuits, who thought their ample supply of 400 biscuits would be plenty to get them through the day, was completely sold out by 12:30 pm. So were many of the other 120 vendors, or they had lines of at least 25-plus very patient people long. It was still a nice day to stroll around the increasingly empty stalls and chat up chefs, like the very lean-looking Morgan Brownlow ,(above) former clarklewis chef, who is now plying his wares with his prosciutto-obsessed Tails & Trotters. This little artisanal piggy went to market, indeed.
