A production company linked to The Food Network was spotted busily filming customers for nearly 8 hours last Friday at Slappy Cakes, the Southeast grill-your-own griddle-cake joint so gimmickly admired by Portland Mercury food columnist Patrick Coleman. No sightings of Bobby Flay or Giada De Laurentiis were reported, but word on the street is this uniquely Portland-centric breakfast joint was picked to be highlighted in a new quirky Food Network show scheduled to broadcast this fall.
