Willamette Week’s 3rd Annual Eat Mobile features 30 food carts hand-picked from the over 300 wheeled-kitchens that dot our local streets. A once-a-year chance to sample dishes in just one spot from such diverse local haunts as FlavourSpot, Garden State, Grilled Cheese Grill, Koi Fusion, The People’s Pig, Potato Champion, Savor Soup House, Tábor, Whiffie’s Fried Pies, Violetta and Ziba’s Pitas among others—and all for only seven bucks—it will take place from 5:30 pm-9:30 pm, Saturday, April 24, under the east end of the Morrison Bridge at Southeast Third Avenue and Belmont Street. A benefit for Mercy Corps Northwest, this year's EA is a huge step up in terms of space from last year's clusterf#@k at NoPo's arty Disjecta. It might also provide some great people watching too, as vendors will compete for the "Carty Award" judged by a panel of food luminaries in town for the IACP conference. A suggestion: if you want to actually to savor the vendors wares, get here early. Like at Costco, free samples have a tendency to disappear before they have a chance to hit the platter.
