A Pearl District operative reports on progress at the old Bay 13 spot at N.W. 13th and Irving. The new owners are high-profile San Francisco restaurateurs Doug Washington, Steven Rosenthal, and Mitchell Rosenthal, whose mini-empire thus far consists of Town Hall, Salt House and Anchor & Hope. Their Anchor & Hope executive chef, Sarah Schafer, is bringing to Portland her taste for "brunoised" vegetables and her background in seafood (think warm sea urchin served in the shell with crab and lemon beurre blanc). At this very moment, workers are hammering away to get the place ready for a tentative May 7 opening. The owners, with the their penchant for plain naming, have dubbed it the Irving Street Kitchen — let's hope there's more luck in calling the spot after its named cross-street than after its numbered one.
