You know this right? That it’s less than two weeks (two weeks!) until the big cheeses of the food world descend on Portland for their annual bacchanal, a.k.a. the International Association of Culinary Professionals conference. The deadline to register online is this Sunday, April 11. It’s not cheap. One-day passes for non-members range from $235 to $400, but it may be your once-in-a-lifetime chance to cross cleavers with the likes of Madhur Jaffrey (pictured), Judith Jones, Ruth Reichl, etc., etc. There’s a wait list for many courses, including — talk about jumping the gun — "Random Thoughts on Moving to Portland: 'Come On, Now That You’ve Been Here a Few Days, Don't You Want to Move?" Still need convincing that this is a really big deal? Check out the IACP-produced video promoting Portland (note: this may be the first ever Portland promo that doesn’t feature Pink Martini impresario Thomas Lauderdale).
