It's gotta suck to live in the shadow of American Craft Beer Week. After yesterday's call-to-arms for locals to support their favorite indie brewer, operatives pointed out another notable appreciation week — for hemp. This week marks the first-ever Hemp History Week, and to celebrate educate Portlanders about the wonders of help, the Bridgeport Brewpub and Bakery will host a hemp event featuring speakers, food and product samples, and a tour of the brewery (its building is a former hemp factory). Lisa Sedlar, chief operating officer of New Seasons Market will be on-hand to talk about the environmental, economical, and foodie reasons for farming hemp. Festivities start tonight at 5:30pm.
