Despite being the ultimate ladies-who-lunch neighborhood, NW 23rd is surprisingly lacking in traditional brunch spots — hence the obnoxious lines circling the blocks around Besaw's (by said ladies) and the Stepping Stone Cafe (by hipsters and tourists). But local restaurateur Bruce Carey's swanky 23 Hoyt, in the dead center of Nob Hill, will start spooning out bacon, eggs, and biscuits every Friday through Sunday beginning this week; the menu touts its "house specialty" Woodland Hash, a mash-up of asparagus, mushrooms, spinach, onions, and potatoes with two poached eggs, all served with a cheddar biscuit. Looks like those world-famous Mancakes could have some (much-needed) competition.
