Imbibers in Portland are spoiled: Consider that PDXers get the country's best coffee for morning caffeination and the country's best beer during evening binges. PINTS, which celebrated its opening last night in its space on the edge of Chinatown, aims to capture both crowds. The spot begins each day as Everyday Coffee, serving cups of Portland Roasters and treats from SE's Marsee Baking 'til noon. PINTS then transitions into Urban Taproom in mid-afternoon, pouring nine fairly-safe taps (think Widmer, Blue Moon, and a bevy of ales) and doling out free bowls of pretzels (as of now, there's no bar-food menu). On the plus side, though, rotating daily specials Tuesday through Saturday ensure there's always at least one $3 pint, and the taproom starts pouring at 3pm — right around the time it's marginally acceptable to duck-out early from at work.
