Eater conjecture time: The Portland plate lunch war might be on. According to official paperwork filed by Simpatica Dining Hall/Laurelhurst Market mastermind Benjamin Dyer, his forthcoming Hawaiian spot Ate-Oh-Ate will be open from 11am to 8pm daily, suggesting that the traditional Hawaiian plate lunch — which features two mounds of rice, pasta, and a pan-Asian entree — is on the midday menu. NW's outpost of the Hawaiian Time chain looks like it could be in big trouble.
