One of Eater's favorite phrases in the English language is "discount dining" (love that alliteration), so early rumors about an upcoming Portland Eats Out initiative have us all a-twitter. For the cost of a yearly membership, the community-oriented "dining club" nets its members a 15% discount at participating restaurants during slower nights of the week (Sunday through Thursday), all in the name of ending hunger in Oregon — 10% of membership fees benefit the Oregon Food Bank, and the group will plan social events and volunteer opportunities to bring the foodie and charitable communities together. Idea whet your appetite? Tentative launch is in early September; more info about participating restaurants is expected to roll in soon.
