Alberta's Francis Closes, Blames Gentrification Backlash

New, 12 comments

NE Alberta breakfast spot Francis Restaurant has closed its doors, according to this week's issue of WWeek, and it sounds like they're going down with a fight: According to the quick blurb, the owners gave the neighborhood the closing FYI with "a screed blaming the neighborhood's 'anti-gentrification' forces" for the failure. If anyone has a photo/copy handy, please do send it over...

UPDATE from a tipster Twitter friend: The note posted on Francis' door (by chef/owner Christopher Pierce?) blamed "anarchists for causing him trouble and vandalizing his place continually from day one." It was later taken down.
