Word on the street is that Hamburger Mary's has finally found a spot downtown to, once again, call home: Actually, it's Old Town. Although originally reported to be going into a space near West Burnside and 11th Avenue, according to some very well-placed sources, Hamburger Mary's is poised to take over a space that was vacated by the original McCormick & Schmick's last summer. The Portland outlet for this San Francisco-based chain of affordably priced restaurants and bars — targeted to the gay and lesbian community and queer-friendly allies — was all the rage in the '70s, '80s, and a little bit of the '90s. Now, we'll have to wait and see if Portlanders still want to eat, drink and be "Mary": The new move is not officially confirmed and Eater is still awaiting word from the Portland franchise owners about the opening date and other information.
