If dining out with a coupon makes you feel like a cheapo (it shouldn't, by the way), assuage your guilt by snagging a discount in the name of charity. From now through September, participating restaurants in Downtown Portland's Compassion Coupon program — including Gracies, Dan & Louis Oyster Bar, and H5o Bistro, among others — will offer diners their choice of discounts (everything from a percent off the tab to free items with purchase) by printing out a coupon online. For each coupon redeemed, the Portland Business Alliance’s Charitable Institute will donate $5 to New Avenues for Youth, an outreach program for street kids. See that? Win-win.
