Frozen Yogurt Trend of Doom to Totally Consume Portland

New, 3 comments

What is this, LA? Eater operatives report at least two new fro-yo storefronts popping up around town, confirming the creamy goodness' official usurping of the cupcake's title as the Ultimate Trendy Edible.

Downtown's Lucky Spoon, on SW Jefferson, will offer self-serve, pay-by-the-ounce yogurt (with a selection of more than 40 toppings) when it opens later this fall. Over in Sellwood, plywood at SE Bybee's Nectar Frozen Yogurt Lounge promises to "bring you the ambiance you've been missing from your current frozen yogurt shop" — the sprawling space will offer a coffee shop/lounge atmosphere (and free wi-fi!) alongside its frozen treats. No official opening date for either, but the fro-yo wars are so. on.
