Ever dream of getting between the covers with some of Portland's professional foodies? You know — literally. Kitchen vet Cory Schreiber (Wildwood), Vitaly Paley (Paley's Place), Ellen Jackson (Grand Central Bakery), and Mark Bitterman (The Meadow), among others, will serve up cookbook writing wisdom during "Eat My Words," a cookbook symposium and luncheon set to fete on October 2.
The Country Cat's Adam Sappington and cookbook author Diane Morgan play host to the event, where the author-chefs will dole out wisdom about everything from landing a book deal to recipe development to working with those cantankerous professional writers; the admission also includes breakfast and lunch featuring recipes from the chef's cookbooks. And in a delightful olive branch from our friends up north, prolific Seattle chef Ethan Stowell (of Anchovies & Olives, Tavolata, and Staple & Fancy), will launch his first-ever cookbook at the PDX event. "Eat My Words" is presented by the Portland Culinary Alliance; reserve tickets at info@pdxca.org.
