Adventures in Cocktailing

ambergris_post-thumb.jpg

According to The Atlantic, there's a current micro-trend happening in the mixology world in which ambergris, aka "clotted whale cholesterol excreted by sperm whales," makes its way into a bevy of libations. The solid mass is shaved atop beverages much like a truffle — but ambergris, because of its rarity, actually costs more pound for pound. Keep your eyes out, beachcomers: "Ambergris is... secreted [sans whale] in large lumps that float around until they wash ashore." Yum. [The Atlantic via -ELA-]
