It's lunchtime on Monday, and we at Eater are already in need of a drink. So, in addition to prepping for tomorrow's Burns Festival, we're looking ahead to the weekend: This Saturday, Southeast's still newish Cascade Barrel Brewing House hosts Portland's first-annual Scottish Ale Festival, featuring 11 Scottish and Scotch ales (they're like super-rich pale ales) from nine area breweries.
In addition to sampling three brews from Cascade, tipplers can taste from Portland-area breweries like Coalition (with its Brigadoonery Scottish Ale), Lucky Lab (featuring a chocolate-y Scottish Holiday), and Upright (pouring a "House" spiced brown ale, brewed just for the event). Bagpipers up the ambiance, and Cascade will offer its regular house menu, in addition to some surprise Scottish specialties. The fest fetes from 3pm to 11pm.
