Let the drinking games begin: The Guild Public House will air President Obama’s State of the Union speech on three screens tonight, including its mega-sized 92-inch screen. "The response to our invitation to join friends and other Portlanders to watch the State of the Union has been tremendous," says owner Jesse Cornett, a former (and possibly future) politico. He adds, "it's always exciting to see interest in public affairs and we are expecting a big crowd."
The SOTU is expected to commence at 6 pm, with coverage of the event starting at 5 pm. A new twist on this viewing party — according to Cornett, "the media is invited to film the crowd or interview interested attendees about their thoughts after the speech." Extra points to anyone who is able to discuss the speech without saying the word "Obama-care."
