In today's lunchtime EaterWire, spend an inordinate amount of money on dinner... but all for a good cause!
PEARL DISTRICT: Peruvian spot Andina hosts another round in its series of Green Empowerment dinners, which raise funds for environmentally-minded projects in Peru and elsewhere. Two "Taste of Peru" dinners on February 7 and 8 feature a five-course dinner (complete with tapas and wine pairings) for $175; proceeds will go to Green Empowerment's efforts to bring clean energy and water options to rural communities.
DOWNTOWN: Chris Israel and Gruner will host an "Alpine Feast" Sunday, February 6 on behalf of Portland dance presenter White Bird. The multi-course, off-menu benefit dinner includes wine and spirits, and $150 of the $250 price tag (proceeds go to White Bird's presenting, commissioning and educational programs) is tax-deductible.
