The International Sommelier Guild — the league of professional winos with a presence throughout the U.S., Canada, and China — is offering Portland-area novice oenophiles an opportunity to up their wine-talk with a "Wine Fundamentals" class, scheduled to begin the first week of February at the Oregon Culinary Institute.
The four-week course (which will accumulate a total of 24
drinking learning hours) covers the basics, from grape varieties to food-and-wine pairing theories to "service techniques" for those interested in pursuing an official ISG sommelier certification.
