Int'l Sommelier Guild to Teach Wine Fundamentals at OCI

The International Sommelier Guild — the league of professional winos with a presence throughout the U.S., Canada, and China — is offering Portland-area novice oenophiles an opportunity to up their wine-talk with a "Wine Fundamentals" class, scheduled to begin the first week of February at the Oregon Culinary Institute.

The four-week course (which will accumulate a total of 24 drinking learning hours) covers the basics, from grape varieties to food-and-wine pairing theories to "service techniques" for those interested in pursuing an official ISG sommelier certification. (Should you choose to go the distance, former Ten 01 sommelier Erica Landon teaches the certification course, two levels up from the beginning Fundamentals).
