Breaking News: The Pearl's Ten 01 Closing Closed for Good

New, 1 comment

Major news to ring in 2011: Two tipsters report that the Pearl's Ten 01 is closing permanently. Since opening in 2006, the spot (owned by Tabla's Adam Berger) has, um, "enjoyed" a tumultuous, soap-operatic history that includes one of Portland's most infamous restaurant reviews ever (Karen Brooks, in another review, dubbed it "the Ishtar of local restaurants"), only to experience a strong resurgence with the debut of Kelly Swenson's cocktail program (he's now mixing at June) and the arrival of chef Michael Hanaghan, an alum of Thomas Keller's Per Se, in 2010.

It's currently unclear if the restaurant is already shuttered or simply in the process: Eater has several feelers out; more information the second it becomes available. Got a tip? You know what to do.

UPDATE: According to another tipster, the restaurant is closed for reals. "The restaurant is closed now... Everything [inside] pretty much is gone — tables, etc."

UPDATE: Read co-owner Adam Berger's statement here: Tabla will honor all Ten 01 gift certificates currently in circulation.
