2011's off to a rough start for Portland restaurateurs: On the heels of yesterday's news that Ten 01 shuttered over the weekend, FoodDude reports that the NW 23rd outpost of the Laurelwood Brewing Co. didn't even make it that long, closing just before the start of the new year.
Per a message on the Laurelwood website: "With declining sales and the economic conditions in certain parts of town, we had a hard decision to to face and we know that it is the right decision for our business at this time. ... We do hope to open another location over the next year or two, in a nearby neighborhood here in Portland." The NW Public House had been in operation since 2005 and the closure comes just six months after Laurelwood's Hollywood outpost, the Laurelwood Pizza Company, shuttered in June 2010.
