Natural Selection Named WWeek's ROY Runner-Up

Willamette Week's annual Restaurant Guide hit newsstands today, and though the Restaurant of the Year winner — Podnah's Pit — was revealed yesterday to, uh, surprisingly mixed results, the guide has balanced the BBQ-meaty pick with the all-vegetarian Natural Selection ("one of the most exciting, talked-about new properties on Portland's culinary landscape") as its Restaurant of the Year runner-up.

The entire guide can be read online here, and in addition to the usual Top 100 Restaurants listage, the tome features "top" guides in areas like take-out, bar food, brunch, and gluten-free dining. And in a handy primer for those who many feel confused during a dining-out experience, KitchenCru resident chef Jeff McCarthy pens the helpful, three-step How to Eat in a Restaurant guide, which suggests that you "order from the fucking menu" and please, let staff know about a problem before you Yelp it. "No one is benefiting from your scathing Yelp review, and it’s a surefire way to ensure that your issue wont be fixed but become yet another reason cooks, servers and restaurateurs hate you." Word.
