Chef Crime

It's not everyday that art-heist-related news makes it to the world of restaurant reportage, but FoodDude picks up on a KPTV report that chef Gabe Gabreski, of Sellwood's Italian spot A Cena, is facing theft charges for stealing a $12,000 painting from a Southeast artist. Gabreski, who's been the chef at A Cena since 2007, "was booked into jail by Portland Police on a felony charge of Aggravated Theft 1, October 8th 2011" and subsequently released. The painting is still apparently MIA. [PF&D, KPTV]
