[Avila, 10/21/11]
Bunk Sandwiches has arrived on the west side. Sandwich-slingers Tommy Habetz and Nick Wood announced via Twitter and Facebook that their downtown Bunk outpost opened today in the Little Bird-adjacent space that formerly housed Hillbilly Bento. The downtown Bunk is the duo's third Portland location (counting the mothership and boozy Bunk Bar, the latter of which opened in August of last year), and though the sandwich spot will be open through the weekend, employees tell Eater that the official grand opening is set for this Monday. The menu, complete with pork belly cubano, pulled pork, and meatball hero, exactly mirrors Bunk's SE Morrison mothership (get a close-up in the third gallery photo).
Hours of operation are 8am-3pm daily; for now, the restaurant is cash only, as Bunk awaits the installation of its phone lines.
