Because Eater's still hungover from Portland Cocktail Week, here's a restorative event-planning EaterWire:
CENTRAL EASTSIDE INDUSTRIAL: Simpatica Dining Hall teams with Burnside Brewing and Laurelhurst Market chef David Kriefels to pull off a four-course Jamaican beer pairing dinner this Friday, October 28. Courses include a curried shrimp and snapper stew (paired with Burnside Sweet Heat Ale) and a Jerk Poussin with rice and peas (paired with Burnside's Oatmeal Pale Ale). Reservations are $50 and available here.
BUCKMAN: Tomorrow (Tuesday, October 25), chef Cathy Whims and Nostrana play host to Butcher's Guild co-founder and author Marissa Guggiana in a celebration of Guggiana's newest tome, Off The Menu: Staff Meals from America's Top Kitchens. In addition to the regular dinner menu, Whims will offer four of Nostrana's own favorite staff meals, including a fettucini with Oregon albacore tuna, and Guggiana will be in the house for book signings. Reservations not required but strongly recommended.
NORTHEAST: Spints Alehouse chef Alyssa Gregg wants to find out what happens "When Beer and Wine Collide" during a dual pairing dinner on Sunday, November 6. The four-course menu features plates cooked up using both Heater Allen beers and German wine, and Heater's Rick Allen and German wine enthusiast Ewald Moseler will be on-hand to pair dishes with their boozy picks. (Example: smoked sturgeon and Riesling rainbow salad will be serevd with a pour of Sandy Paws Porter.) Reservations are $65 and available by calling the restaurant.
DOWNTOWN: In its annual celebration of Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights and new year celebration, East India Co. will offer a special $22 tasting menu throughout this week, starting tomorrow (Tuesday) and wrapping up on October 29. The four-course menu features traditional dishes like paneer-stuffed koftas and biryani.
