And now, the obligatory foodie Halloween round-up: Because sometimes binge drinking and hangover-brunching tastes better complete with ridiculous outfit — like, say, a full-on Batman suit.
1) Night of the Living Ales @ Burnside Brewing Co.
What: Local breweries whip up eight Halloween-inspired beers (like Burnside's Reese's peanut butter cup-infused Alt, Oakshire's imperial chocolate pumpkin porter, and Lompoc's famous Monster Mash) in this "costumes encouraged" event, which also promises live music, Halloween burlesque, and a full bar with additional drink specials and themed cocktails (for the non beer-drinkers).
When: Saturday, October 29; 8pm-1am
Get there: 701 E. Burnside; $8 cover charge at the door
2) Trader Vic's Trick or Tiki Party
What: It's kinda like Halloween every day at the Polynesian-themed Trader Vic's, but a Saturday evening party promises cocktail specials ($2 off the Nelson's Blood; $6 off the "group-sized" bowl version), live tiki music, something called "spooky Pupu's," and a 7pm costume contest, with prizes doled out for the best "Keep Portland Weird," best tiki, and "most original" outfits.
When: Saturday, October 29; 3pm 'til close
Get there: 1203 NW Glisan, 503-467-2277
3) Yakuza's pre-Halloween Party
What: Those decked out in costumes on Saturday, October 29 will get happy hour pricing at Killingsworth's Yakuza all evening (prizes will also be given out to the scariest and funniest Halloween attire). The following day, Yakuza gets kid-friendly with a family costume deal: The first 10 families to arrive in costume get $10 off that evening's tab — plus "an additional $50 in savings on future visits."
When: Saturday & Sunday, October 29 & 30; 5pm until close
Get there: 5411 NE 30th Ave.; 503-450-0893
4) Costume Brunch @ Brasserie Montmartre
What: This one's straightforward enough: Those who arrive in-costume for Sunday brunch at downtown's Brasserie Montmartre will get 20% off their brunch checks.
When: Sunday, Oct 30, 10am-2pm
Get there: 626 SW Park Ave.; 503-236-3036
5) Trick-or-Treat at Pix Patisserie
What: Both kids and adults in costume on Halloween will receive free sweet treats from both Pix Patisserie locations.
When: Monday, Oct 31, 5pm until supplies last
Get there: 3402 SE Division St. (503-232-4407); 3901 N. Williams Ave. (503-282-6539)
6) NE Killingsworth's Dia de los Muertos Celebration
What: In this third-annual celebration, businesses around NE Killingsworth join together for a "Dead of the Dead" party that features food and drink specials at several neighborhood spots. Yakuza gets back in on the action with a special menu, while Cocotte will use the celebration to debut its brand-spankin' new late night menu (available all day Tuesday). According to Cocotte's Kat Liebman, "The menu will be bar-focused, so kind of like an extended happy hour menu, with variety and really affordable prices. We'll be extending our hours past dinner service and offering the bar menu to provide the neighborhood with a much-needed bar scene and cocktail culture."
When: November 1, 11am-9pm
Get there: NE 30th and Killingsworth
