The Occupy Portland protest — inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement in NYC — is underway at the Waterfront as Eater types this, and a few quick food-related items to report: Portobello Vegan Trattoria is closed this evening in solidarity with the Occupy movement, while Northeast's Hungry Heart cupcakes is offering a special — four cupcakes for $4 — to marchers/those who mention Occupy Portland. Throughout the month of October, Cellar Door Coffee will donate $1 to the Occupy Wall Street livestream (via the Coup Media Group) for every pound of Big Shot blend sold during the month. And Cartopia's deep-fried pie cart Whiffies has been teasing some kind of OccuPIE event, which has been described as "some sort of something," at a later date.
