And now, physical and total proof that the Portland outpost of Via Tribunali — the Seattle-based Neapolitan pizza chain that took like 10,000 years to open — has finally fired up its ovens. The spot makes its official public debut later today (doors open at 4pm) after a nearly two-year-long buildout by Caffe Vita founder Mike McConnell, local restaurateur Bruce Carey, and musician Jason Finn.
The menu features nearly 25 different pies (moderately priced at $10-$17), including the signature "Via Tribunali" with pomodoro, buffalo mozz, ricotta, cherry tomatoes, grana padano cheese, and basil. The wine list is jam-packed with nearly 60 bottles and nine options available by the glass (for swank sippers, there's a full bar too). Via Tribunali's hours are scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday, 4pm to midnight; Friday and Saturday, 4pm-2am; and Sunday from 4pm-midnight.
