NE ALBERTA: The Oregonian reports that Aviary's new opening date has been pushed back yet again (to December 6), as the re-build post Fourth of July fire has taken longer than expected. But in an example of making the best of a shitty situation, owners Sarah Pliner, Jasper Shen, and Kat Whitehead are expanding on the restaurant's original space, with plans to build a full bar (and accompanying cocktail program) into a neighboring space. According to the O, Ross Hunsinger (most recently of McMenamins' Kennedy School) will helm the bar program. The cocktail space will open after the restaurant, at a time TBD. [OregonLive]
DOWNTOWN: According to the Internets, Zizzo's FC, the Italian-inspired food cart owned by current Portland Timbers played Sal Zizzo, has officially opened for business at SW 9th and Alder. [EaterWire]
KENTON: Seats are still available for the next installment of chef Courtney Sprouce's din din supperclub series, this one dedicated to all things dainty: The second annual "din din MINI," which features several plates of tiny dishes (complete with baby booze pairings), is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday, November 18) at NoPo's Disjecta art space. The $80 reservation includes eight courses featuring at least a dozen tastes (think brown butter cauliflower floret with winter savory béarnaise; fried Oly oysters with green tomato & yellow Chartreuse aoili; and baby turnip soup); reservations available here.
