As first reported by Willamette Week, three dudes — Justin Akins, Kenny Hill, and Daniel Roy — aren't letting any dust gather on E. Burnside's recently closed Guild Public House. In fact, the trio plan to re-open the once-popular-with-progressive-pols-pub in the very near future. In anticipation of the relaunch, Eater reached out to Akins, owner/bartender of SE's Vintage Cocktail Lounge, to find out more about the Guild. Here's what he had to say about the Guild re-vamp:
We intend on keeping the name and want to just improve on the concept. We're going to put pinball machines upstairs on the mezzanine, and continue with sports on the projection screen... [chef] Kenny Hill of Trebol is a partner and will focus on putting his own spin on American pub grub. Daniel Roy is the third partner, and as a self-titled "beer geek," will manage the beer program, focusing on local micro/nano breweries. I will pair the beers with a complimenting spirit to be served neat or on a rock. We'll also feature flights of beer and spirits and even a flight of three short beers and 3 1/2 shots in a program called "two fingers and a back." We will have 10 or so specialty cocktails and be whiskey-centric in our selection of spirits, as well as carrying as many NW liquors as we can.
The Guild's projected reopening: mid-December.
